Q6 What is psychosynthesis?
Psychosynthesis is a well established, respected approach for working with individuals and groups in a number of different contexts, including business, education, conflict resolution and psychotherapy.
It provides a sound theoretical model of the personality and the way we relate to ourselves and others. It could be seen as a map with which to negotiate the journey of self discovery.
Q7 What does NLP stand for?
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It’s not a particularly elegant name, although it does describe its main focus of attention in that NLP is about how our brains (Neuro) use language (Linguistic) and imagery as the basis for how we organise (Programming) our internal experience.
NLP is a very effective coaching tool that can be applied to any type of endeavour, from feeling more confident to running a marathon.
Q8 What does a coach actually do?
Coaching to me is a way of relating to others rather than a role, although there are coaches, particularly in the sports arena, who would see it as their only function.
Coaching is a way for someone to explore who they are, where they are going and how they are going to get there. In general, it focusses on what’s important in the present and the future and is less concerned with events in the past.
Coaching usually takes the form of a conversation, using carefully considered questions, reflection and challenge, which help the person being coached gain insights into whatever they are exploring. It can also include the use of visualisation, drawing and work on beliefs and values.

Q3 Do you have a daily rate for corporate presenting?
We don’t charge a fixed daily rate as the nature of our work is so varied. The fee will depend on the work itself, the number of days, the scale and budget of the project, and its location.
This might seem unhelpful, but that’s not the intention. Its easy to get a quote. Just call or email us and explain what you have in mind. It will be very clear how we’ve calculated the fee.
Q9 If we hired you to facilitate our conference, what would you do?
Whatever you wanted! It would depend entirely on your needs - what kind of event it was, how you were organising it and what outcomes you were wanting to achieve.
If you were producing it in house I could help you clarify your goals, devise and implement an appropriate strategy, then plan and coordinate the conference itself.
If you were using an event production company to stage the event I would work with them to ensure your brief was fully realised.
I would get involved at whatever level was required to achieve your objectives, sometimes this requires a detailed understanding of the issues and challenges you are currently facing, on others it’s more about just ensuring everyone has a great time.
Q1 How many years have you worked as a broadcaster?
I joined BBC Radio Suffolk as their youngest presenter in 1990. Before that I had been working for BBC Television on shows like EastEnders, Top of the Pops, Wogan and That’s Life!
I left the BBC in 1995 and have presented hundreds of live business television programmes, conferences and live events all over the country and around the world. During this time I have also worked for Sky Business and read the news on BBC Radio Five Live.
Q2 Can I get a copy of your showreel on DVD, CDROM or VHS?
Yes. Currently we have the reel available on VHS. We are in the process of producing it on CDROM and DVD too.

Q10 I would like my team to work with you, but a few of the group are anti anything like this, what can I do?
It’s not uncommon for individuals and sometimes whole teams to be resistant to exploring their interpersonal dynamic. It can be very threatening and difficult.
The resistance is not in itself a problem, but a complete unwillingness to engage with the process at all is unlikely to be very productive.
I would be happy to talk to you more about this and discuss the best approach. It’s rare not to find an acceptable way forward for everyone involved.
Q11 Why do you suggest 6 sessions and not just one or two?
Most personal development requires continued effort over a period of time. That’s not to say there aren’t eureka moments, but even these need to be integrated into our day to day lives.
Six sessions allows for a session to identify the issues to be explored, three to do the work and then two more to ground the insights, assess the outcomes, and consider where you go from here.

Q5 What do you mean by approach?
An approach is simply a way of working. People development work is just like any other skill, except perhaps it’s more fundamental as it’s about how we function as a person and so informs all that we do. But like any skill it becomes easier to understand if there’s a clear and well structured approach to the learning.
It’s important to hold the approach with a light touch though, as it is not the truth. The complexities and depth of the human condition can’t be fully defined by any theoretical model.
Q12 Are your people development sessions a form of therapy?
No, and this is a really important point. The people development sessions I facilitate are not therapy nor a substitute for it. That’s mainly because of the time frame and frequency of the sessions, but there are other practical, ethical and theoretical differences too.
However, because some of the goals of people development work can be the same as therapeutic goals, at times it can look and perhaps feel similar to therapy. If you have concerns about these distinctions, or if you are already working with a therapist, we can discuss this aspect of the process in more detail to understand the issues and ensure the appropriate boundaries are acknowledged and respected.
Q4 Could we meet before we engage you on a project?
Yes, of course. I’m always willing to come and see you and talk about a potential project, in fact I prefer to. It gives us both a chance to get to know each other and discuss what you’re looking for and how I may be able to help.
I am also willing to meet up if you just want to begin a relationship for the future, but don’t have a particular project in mind,
